You shall have no other gods.

What does this mean? We should fear, love, and trust in God above all things.

Thurs., Sept. 24 –

Matthew 22:37 – Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and

with all your mind.

Matthew 4:10 – Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.

Tues., Sept. 29 – THE SECOND COMMANDMENT

You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God.

What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that we do not curse, swear,

use satanic arts, lie, or deceive by His name, but call upon it in every trouble, pray,

praise, and give thanks.

Thurs., Oct. 1 –

Matthew 1:21 – You are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His

people from their sins.

Psalm 50:15 – Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor

Me.

Tues., Oct. 6 – THE THIRD COMMANDMENT

Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.

What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that we do not despise

preaching and His Word, but hold it sacred and gladly hear and learn it.

Thurs., Oct. 8 –

Matthew 11:28 – Come to Me all you who are weary and burdened and I will

give you rest.

Matthew 12:8 The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.

Tues., Oct. 13 – THE FOURTH COMMANDMENT

Honor your father and your mother.

What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that we do not despise or

anger our parents and other authorities, but honor them, serve and obey them, love

and cherish them.

Thurs., Oct. 15 –

Ephesians 6:2-3 – Honor your father and mother that it may go well with you and that

you may enjoy long life on the earth.

Proverbs 23:22 – Listen to your father, who gave you life, and do not despise your

mother when she is old.

Tues., Oct. 27 – THE FIFTH COMMANDMENT

You shall not murder.

What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that we do not hurt or harm

our neighbor in his body, but help and support him in every physical need.

Thurs., Oct. 29 –

Ephesians 4:32 – Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other,

just as in Christ God forgave you.

Proverbs 31:8 – Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights

of all who are destitute.

Tues., Nov. 3 –THE SIXTH COMMANDMENT

You shall not commit adultery.

What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that we lead a sexually pure

and decent life in what we say and do, and husband and wife love and honor each other.

Thurs., Nov. 5 –

Genesis 2:24 – For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to

his wife, and they will become one flesh.

Matthew 19:6 – They are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined

together let man not separate.

Tues., Nov. 10 – THE SEVENTH COMMANDMENT

You shall not steal.

What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that we do not take our

neighbor’s money or possessions, or get them in any dishonest way, but help him

to improve and protect his possessions and income.

Thurs., Nov. 12 –

Psalm 37:21 – The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously

2 Thessalonians 3:10 If a man will not work, he shall not eat.

Tues., Nov. 17 – THE EIGHTH COMMANDMENT

You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that we do not tell lies about

our neighbor, betray him, slander him, or hurt his reputation, but defend him, speak

well of him, and explain everything in the kindest way.

Thurs., Nov. 19 –

James 4:11 -Brothers, do not slander one another.

1 Peter 4:8 – Love covers over a multitude of sins.

Tues., Nov. 24 – THE NINTH COMMANDMENT

You shall not covet your neighbor’s house.

What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that we do not scheme to get

our neighbor’s inheritance or house, or get it in a way which only appears right, but

help and be of service to him in keeping it.

Tues., Dec. 1 –

1 Timothy 6:6 – Godliness with contentment is great gain.

Thurs., Dec. 3 – THE TENTH COMMANDMENT

You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox, or

donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.

Tues., Dec. 8 –

What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that we do not entice or force

away our neighbor’s wife, workers, or animals, or turn them against him, but urge them

to stay and do their duty.

Thurs., Dec. 10 –

Psalm 37:4 – Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your

heart.

Philippians 2:4 – Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the

interests of others.

Tues., Dec. 15 – THE CLOSE OF THE COMMANDMENTS

What does God say about all these commandments?

He says: “I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin

of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate Me,

of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate Me, but showing

love to a thousand generations of those who love Me and keep My Commandments.

John 20:31 – These (acts of Jesus) are written that you may believe that Jesus is the

Christ, the Son of God and that by believing you may have life in His name.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

What does this mean? I believe that God has made me and all creatures; that He has

given me my body and soul, eyes, ears, and all my members, my reason and all my

senses, and still takes care of them.

Psalm 145:15-16 The eyes of all look to You, and You give them their food at the

proper time. You open Your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing.

Tues., Feb. 2 – THE SECOND ARTICLE – REDEMPTION

I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy

Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and

was buried.

THE THIRD ARTICLE – SANCTIFICATION

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian church, the communion of saints, the

forgiveness of sins, and resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

in Jesus Christ, my Lord, or come to Him; but the Holy Spirit has called me by the

Gospel, enlightened me with His gifts, sanctified and kept me in the true faith.

Thy kingdom come.

Philippians 3:20 – Our citizenship is in heaven, and we eagerly await a Savior from

there, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Tues., Apr. 26 –THE THIRD PETITION

Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

1 Peter 5:8 – Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a

roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

Thurs., Apr. 28 – THE FOURTH PETITION

Give us this day our daily bread.

Matthew 6:33 – Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will

be given to you as well.

Tues., May 3 – THE FIFTH PETITION

And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.

For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen
