Good morning, saints! The readings for this Sunday – Holy Trinity Sunday – are Psalm 8; Genesis 1:1-2:4a; Acts 2:14a,22-36; and Matthew 28:16-20. As you read through these Bible lessons you will see how the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit work together, whether it’s in the creation of the world (Gen.1), the victory of Jesus (Acts 2), or the calling of Christians to mission (Matthew 28). This cooperation and mutual support within the Trinity – mysterious as it is – should remind us of two important truths. 1) God is running the show. The authority is his, the mission is his, the power is his. And because of this, God’s mission to the world cannot and will not fail – despite all attempts to stop it. 2) No one works alone – even God! Just as there is cooperation and friendship within the Holy Trinity, you and I never have to (nor should we ever TRY to) “go it alone” as a Christian. God has very purposefully placed you into a family of fellow believers so that we can help one another, but also hold one another accountable. How blessed we are by our Three-in-One God!
