The readings for this Sunday, May 12, 2013 are Acts 1:12-26, Revelation 22:1-20, and John 17:20-26.
John 17 still has us in the Upper Room on Maundy Thursday, just before Jesus is arrested and crucified. Here, we are listening in as Jesus prays to his Father “that they (his followers) may all be one” (v.21). “Unity” is one of those buzzwords that are easy to say but much harder to demonstrate. Where does our unity come from as God’s people? What is threatening that unity? Why is it so important that we have it? These are just a few deep thoughts to consider as we head toward Sunday. God be with you this week!
